Day 1
USA to Lisbon
Day 2
Lisbon. Welcome to Lisbon! Arrive and check in at our hotel. Meet your Tour Director and traveling companions at 7 p.m. for a welcome dinner (included).
Day 3
Lisbon to Porto. After breakfast (included) we will begin our journey to Porto, stopping for a lovely lunch in the quaint town of Óbidos - a fortified and well-preserved example of Portuguese medieval architecture. After checking into our hotel in Porto, you will enjoy a sampling of local wine (included) before boarding a cruise of the six bridges (weather permitting) where you will have a chance to capture the best views, and pictures, of this gorgeous city.
Day 4
Porto. After breakfast (included) we will take a morning guided tour of this incredible city. *Please have your cameras ready and wear comfortable shoes this day.
Day 5
Porto to Santiago. After breakfast (included), we depart towards Combarro, a lovely
village of tiled roofs and hidden walkways. You will have time to explore on your own until lunch (included) where you are sure to enjoy the meal as much as the view.
Later, we will continue to Santiago de Compostela - one of the most popular pilgrim destinations in the world since the Middle
Ages. After checking in to our *5-star hotel, we will have a guided tour this historic city with free time to take an evening stroll.
Day 6
Santiago to Aviles. After breakfast (included) we depart for Cudillero – a quaint town along the Asturian coast. Prepare your cameras as I can
assure you, they will get used. After exploring this town, we will continue along the coast to the city of Aviles. After checking in
at our *5-star hotel (a former 18th-century palace!), you will have time to enjoy the architecture and shopping near the hotel until regrouping for a dining experience (included) typical to this region of the country.
Day 7
Aviles to Santander. After breakfast (included) we'll make our way to a place
known as the cradle of Spain, commemorating the Battle of Covadonga in 718. Covadonga will not only seduce you with its beauty but invite you to experience the calm and spiritual atmosphere of what the basilica represents, not only to Asturias but to all of Spain and the Christian world.
Following lunch (included), we will continue to one of the most enchanting towns in Spain: Santillana del Mar. I fear you will love the history and hidden courtyards so much you will not want to leave! However, if I can convince you, we will continue our journey in the late afternoon to the nearby capital of
Cantabria: Santander. After checking in, you will have time to explore, or visit Santander's Grand Casino if you have the energy. *Please bring appropriate attire for the Casino if you would like to enter.
Day 8
Santander. After breakfast (included) we will take a guided city. Afterward, you are free to explore the city on your own or relax by the beach (weather permitting).
Day 9
Santander to San Sebastian. After breakfast (included), we depart to Bilbao - the capital of the Basque region. Here we will visit the famous Guggenheim Museum and have lunch in the old part of town. Following, we will continue to the gem city of the Basque region: San Sebastian, where you will fall in love with the picturesque bayfront promenade, amazing architecture and upscale shops.
Day 10
San Sebastian. Free day in San Sebastian
Day 11
San Sebastian to Madrid. After breakfast (included), we depart toward Madrid.
Day 12
Today we will begin our tour of the city with the Royal Palace, El Retiro, where you will enjoy the landscape in authentic Spanish style, and Plaza Mayor where you can taste a traditional glass of Sangria at one of its many charming surrounding cafes and restaurants. Then, you will have free time until our farewell dinner (included).
Day 13
Return to USA.
Where Will I Stay?
For this tour, Worlds of Spain offers multiple night stays in 4 & 5 * hotels, select/boutique, centrally located for tourist attractions and shopping. To offer the best possible price to our participants, rooms are based on double occupancy. Individual rooms are available, but at an additional cost of $1,500 (due to the hotels used in this particular tour).
